Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our repairs, refurbished devices, shipping, and more.

Refurbished Devices

What does “refurbished” mean?

A refurbished phone is a pre-owned device that has been professionally restored to full working condition. It has been tested, cleaned, and may include replaced parts (battery, screen, etc.) to ensure it meets our quality standards. Every refurbished device undergoes a rigorous inspection before being sold.

Are refurbished phones authentic?

Yes, absolutely! All our refurbished phones are 100% authentic and come from legitimate sources. Every device is certified tested and comes with a warranty. We take authenticity very seriously and would never sell counterfeit devices.

How long do refurbished phones last?

Refurbished phones can last just as long as new ones when properly cared for. The longevity depends on usage patterns, care, and the device age. Our refurbished devices come with a 30-90 day warranty depending on condition. After the warranty period, they continue to work normally like any smartphone.

What warranty comes with refurbished phones?

All refurbished devices come with a limited warranty of between 30 and 90 days depending on the device type and condition. The warranty covers functional failures under normal use but does not cover accidental damage, liquid damage, or cosmetic wear. See our Warranty Policy page for full details.

Can I return a refurbished phone?

Refurbished phones purchased in original condition may be returned within 14 days for a full refund. Items that show signs of use, damage, or have been modified are not eligible for return. Contact us at phone.support@secondlifedevices.com.au to initiate a return.

What condition grades do you offer?

We offer refurbished devices in various condition grades, clearly disclosed at the time of sale. Condition descriptions include cosmetic appearance, battery health, and any replaced components. All devices are fully functional regardless of cosmetic condition.

Is the battery in a refurbished phone original?

The battery status is clearly disclosed for each device. Some refurbished phones may have replacement batteries if the original battery health was degraded. All batteries are tested to ensure they hold a proper charge and function normally.

Yes! Once your order ships, you’ll receive a tracking number via email. You can use this number to track your package with the shipping carrier in real-time.

What if my package is damaged during shipping?

We package all items carefully to prevent damage during transit. If your package arrives damaged, contact us immediately at phone.support@secondlifedevices.com.au or call 0403 700 818 with photos of the damage. We’ll work with the carrier to resolve the issue.

Do you offer international shipping?

Currently, we only ship within Australia. If you’re outside Australia, please contact us at phone.support@secondlifedevices.com.au to discuss possible options.

We recommend purchasing shipping insurance for valuable items. Insurance options will be available at checkout for most orders. Insurance covers loss or damage during transit.

What if my package doesn’t arrive?

If your package doesn’t arrive within the estimated delivery window, contact us immediately. We’ll investigate with the shipping carrier and either resend your package or issue a refund. Always keep your tracking number.

Device Grading Scale

What does “grading” mean?

Grading refers to the cosmetic condition only of a refurbished device. It describes how the device looks on the outside (scratches, dents, screen condition). Grading does NOT affect functionality—all devices are fully tested and 100% functional regardless of grade.

What is Grade A+ (Like New)?

Grade A+ devices are in excellent cosmetic condition with little to no visible marks. The screen is near flawless, the frame and back are very clean, and there are minimal signs of prior use. These devices look almost brand new.

What is Grade A (Excellent)?

Grade A devices show very light signs of use with only minor cosmetic wear. You may notice some hairline scratches, but there are no deep scratches or dents. The screen is in great condition and the device looks excellent overall.

What is Grade B (Very Good)?

Grade B devices show moderate signs of use. You’ll see visible light scratches on the screen or body, and there may be small scuffs or minor marks on the frame. There are no cracks, and the device is completely functional.

What is Grade C (Good / Fair)?

Grade C devices show noticeable signs of use with visible scratches and scuffs throughout. The screen may have noticeable surface scratches, and there may be possible small dents on the frame. No cracks unless otherwise stated. The device is fully functional.

What is Grade D (Heavily Used)?

Grade D devices show heavy cosmetic wear with deep scratches and visible dents. They may have various cosmetic imperfections, but are still fully tested and functional unless otherwise stated. Perfect for those who prioritize functionality over appearance.

Does the grade affect how well the device works?

No! All our refurbished devices are fully tested and 100% functional regardless of grade. Grade only refers to cosmetic appearance. A Grade C device works exactly the same as a Grade A+ device—the only difference is how it looks on the outside.

Which grade should I choose?

It depends on your priorities:

  • A+ or A: If you want a device that looks like new
  • B: If you want good condition at a better price
  • C: If you don’t mind visible wear and want the best value
  • D: If functionality is all that matters and you want the lowest price
Can I see photos of each grade?

Yes! All our product listings include photos showing the device’s condition. We provide clear images of the screen, frame, back, and sides so you know exactly what you’re getting. Contact us at 0403 700 818 if you want additional photos before purchasing.
